In value terms, sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Philippines prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 75% of total exports in 2022. Singapore (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 15% share of total exports. Thailand (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from the Philippines decreased at an average annual rate of -21.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Malaysia (+9.1%) and Vietnam (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +9.1% from 2012-2022. Myanmar experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Thailand (-1.2%), Singapore (-4.1%) and Indonesia (-8.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Singapore (+7.1 p.p.), Malaysia (+6 p.p.), Thailand (+3.2 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.6 p.p.) and Myanmar (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Philippines saw its share reduced by -22.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Philippines ($X) emerged as the largest sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 4% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 2% share.

In the Philippines, sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates exports decreased by an average annual rate of -17.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (-1.9% per year) and Thailand (+17.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 596% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a temperate increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 32%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, the largest sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates importing markets in South-Eastern Asia were Vietnam ($X), Thailand ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined 76% share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +11.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
