Overall, consumption, however, showed a perceptible descent. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

From 2015 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, tamping machinery exports in South-Eastern Asia surged to X units, picking up by 84% against 2020 figures. Overall, exports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 94%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, tamping machinery exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 141% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Vietnam prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was near 95% of total exports in 2021. Singapore (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tamping or compacting machinery exports, with a CAGR of +25.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Singapore (+17.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Vietnam (+30 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest tamping machinery supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam amounted to +18.6%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -37.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Vietnam stood at $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (-0.1%).

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, the amount of tamping or compacting machinery imported in South-Eastern Asia soared to X units, jumping by 154% on 2020 figures. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, tamping machinery imports reached $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -20.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 46%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Thailand (X units) represented the key importer of tamping or compacting machinery, generating 49% of total imports. The Philippines (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 17% share, followed by Vietnam (13%), Singapore (12%) and Indonesia (4.7%). Malaysia (X units) took a little share of total imports.
Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tamping or compacting machinery imports, with a CAGR of +28.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+27.8%), Singapore (+21.4%), the Philippines (+10.8%) and Malaysia (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Indonesia (-2.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Thailand (+30 p.p.), Vietnam (+7.7 p.p.) and Singapore (+4.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Malaysia (-7.3 p.p.), the Philippines (-8.2 p.p.) and Indonesia (-17.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Vietnam ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 74% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Singapore, with a CAGR of +16.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -57.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 25% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
