In 2021, exports of thermoforming machines for working rubber or plastics in South-Eastern Asia fell markedly to X units, reducing by -97.8% compared with 2020. Overall, exports recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 10,665% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 90% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 8.7%.

Among the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +45.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 5,890% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a notable increase. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+20.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of thermoforming machines for working rubber or plastics, when their volume increased by 6% to X units. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 123% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, thermoforming machine imports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible contraction.
