The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Exports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2022, shipments abroad of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone increased by 5.3% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Total exports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +17.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 37%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted a strong expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Thailand represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which resulted at 64% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons), together committing a 31% share of total exports. The Philippines (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to concrete tile exports from Thailand stood at +12.9%. At the same time, the Philippines (+24.9%) and Vietnam (+10.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +24.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Indonesia (-5.3%) and Malaysia (-8.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest concrete tile supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Thailand stood at +27.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+8.2% per year) and Malaysia (-4.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 50% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+13.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, concrete tile imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Singapore (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) represented the key importers of tiles, flagstones, bricks and similar articles, of cement, concrete or artificial stone in South-Eastern Asia, together achieving 44% of total imports. Thailand (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Vietnam (X tons), Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together took near 45% share of total imports. The Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +46.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Vietnam ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 72% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +42.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -5.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
