In general, exports continue to indicate a sharp decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 110%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, titanium exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a dramatic contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 88%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Malaysia (X tons) represented the main exporter of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 99% of total export.
Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs exports, with a CAGR of -28.1% from 2012 to 2022. While the share of Malaysia (+10 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) also remains the largest titanium supplier in South-Eastern Asia.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Malaysia.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, after five years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs, when their volume increased by 39% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a precipitous slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 103%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, titanium imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a precipitous shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 146%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Malaysia (X tons) represented the main importer of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs, creating 46% of total imports. Thailand (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 30% share, followed by Vietnam (12%) and Cambodia (11%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +41.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), Thailand ($X) and Vietnam ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 69% of total imports. Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 3.8%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +33.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
