Turkey Meat Market Size in South-Eastern Asia

The Southeast Asian turkey meat market shrank remarkably to $X in 2022, waning by -21.5% against the previous year. Overall, consumption recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The Philippines (X tons) remains the largest turkey meat producing country in South-Eastern Asia, comprising approx. 83% of total volume. Moreover, turkey meat production in the Philippines exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Thailand (X tons), fivefold.

In 2022, number of animals slaughtered for turkey meat production in South-Eastern Asia stood at X heads, remaining relatively unchanged against 2021. In 2022, turkey meat exports in South-Eastern Asia expanded notably to X tons, surging by 5.4% on the previous year. Overall, exports, however, saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, turkey meat exports declined to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -23.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 89%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Vietnam dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), generating a 7.9% share of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the turkey meat exports, with a CAGR of +31.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Malaysia (+4.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Singapore (-9.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Vietnam increased by +85 percentage points. Imports in South-Eastern Asia

Turkey meat imports declined sharply to X tons in 2022, which is down by -24.3% on 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Vietnam represented the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 48% of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Cambodia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Singapore (X tons). All these countries together took near 50% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported turkey meat in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 16% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Vietnam amounted to +7.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+8.1% per year) and Singapore (+0.0% per year).
