For the third consecutive year, the Southeast Asian vacuum pump market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 7.4% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption saw a pronounced curtailment. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Singapore was the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 55% of total exports. Thailand (X units) took a 34% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (11%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +24.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest vacuum pump supplying countries in South-Eastern Asia were Singapore ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Thailand ($X), together accounting for 99% of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +25.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

For the third year in a row, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in overseas purchases of vacuum pumps, which increased by 9.2% to X units in 2022. Total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +40.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Thailand (X units), Singapore (X units) and Malaysia (X units) represented roughly 81% of total imports in 2022. Vietnam (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Indonesia (5.5%). The Philippines (X units) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vacuum pumps in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 14% share.

In Singapore, vacuum pump imports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (+4.3% per year) and Thailand (-1.8% per year).
