From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to video projector exports from the Philippines stood at -24.8%. At the same time, Vietnam (+61.5%) and Thailand (+13.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +61.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Singapore (-16.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the Philippines ($X) remains the largest video projector supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with an 8.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the Philippines amounted to +5.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+20.5% per year) and Vietnam (+67.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 9.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 736% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+39.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of video projectors increased by 60% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, video projector imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand dominates imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 74% of total imports in 2021. Indonesia (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Philippines (X units). All these countries together held near 16% share of total imports. The following importers - Singapore (X units) and Malaysia (X units) - each finished at a 7.9% share of total imports.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the video projectors imports, with a CAGR of +35.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+12.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. The Philippines and Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Singapore (-11.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (+55 p.p.) and the Philippines (+6.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore saw its share reduced by -3.4%, -10.4% and -42.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Thailand ($X) and Singapore ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 72% of total imports.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +13.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -35.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price faced a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
