The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Vietnam represented the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 41% of total exports. Indonesia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 18% share, followed by Malaysia (18%), Singapore (18%) and Thailand (4.8%).
Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wheat and meslin flour exports, with a CAGR of +4.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+2.9%), Thailand (+2.2%) and Singapore (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Vietnam (+6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Malaysia (-2.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Singapore ($X) and Indonesia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 77% of total exports.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +4.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
After four years of decline, supplies from abroad of wheat and meslin flour increased by 19% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wheat and meslin flour imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Thailand (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) represented roughly 76% of total imports in 2022. Myanmar (X tons) held a 6.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Philippines (5.4%). Timor-Leste (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +44.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest wheat and meslin flour importing markets in South-Eastern Asia were Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Malaysia ($X), together comprising 63% of total imports. Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar and Timor-Leste lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.
Myanmar, with a CAGR of +40.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In 2022, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 8.6%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
