Indonesia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) represented roughly 93% of total exports in 2021. Myanmar (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +54.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Thailand ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 82% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 17%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +30.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, waning by -5.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -13.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 37%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, man-made filament fabric imports amounted to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period.
