In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 31%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 24%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Bangladesh (X tons) and India (X tons) represented the key importers of aluminum (unwrought, not alloyed) in 2022, resulting at near 44% and 34% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X tons), committing a 19% share of total imports.
