In 2021, India (X tons) was the main importer of biodiesel, making up 75% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Bangladesh (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons), together committing a 25% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to biodiesel imports into India stood at +18.7%. At the same time, Bangladesh (+94.0%) and Pakistan (+13.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +94.0% from 2012-2021. India (+75 p.p.) and Bangladesh (+17 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Pakistan saw its share reduced by -88.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported biodiesel in Southern Asia, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bangladesh ($X), with an 18% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in India amounted to +21.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bangladesh (+73.1% per year) and Pakistan (+9.5% per year).
