Exports in Southern Asia

In 2022, blueberry and cranberry exports in Southern Asia contracted to X tons, which is down by -4.9% on 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 830% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, blueberry and cranberry exports fell significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 705% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The shipments of the four major exporters of blueberries and cranberries, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X tons), constituting a 12% share of total exports.

Imports in Southern Asia

In 2022, the amount of blueberries and cranberries imported in Southern Asia surged to X tons, rising by 140% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 432%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 235%.
