Exports by Country
India (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) represented the key exporters of flaked or rolled cereals in 2022, amounting to near 44% and 44% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Sri Lanka (X tons), generating a 12% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Sri Lanka (with a CAGR of +34.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest flaked or rolled cereal supplier in Southern Asia, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 28% share of total exports.

Imports in Southern Asia
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of flaked or rolled cereals decreased by -18% to X tons in 2022. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -1.5% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
In value terms, flaked or rolled cereal imports contracted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +18.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 32%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

India prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 91% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Pakistan (X tons) and Nepal (X tons) - together made up 6% of total imports.
Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Pakistan (+8.5%) and Nepal (+7.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +8.5% from 2012-2022. The shares of the largest importers remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported flaked or rolled cereals in Southern Asia, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 5.8% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in India totaled +4.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Pakistan (+15.0% per year) and Nepal (+18.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nepal ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
