In value terms, endless machinery band imports contracted slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 68%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Pakistan represented the major importing country with an import of about X square meters, which recorded 46% of total imports. India (X square meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 20% share, followed by Bangladesh (11%), Bhutan (10%), Sri Lanka (6.6%) and Nepal (5.8%).

The second position in the ranking was held by Pakistan ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Bangladesh, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in India amounted to +6.7%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Pakistan (-4.2% per year) and Bangladesh (-1.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per square meter, dropping by -24.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 41%. The level of import peaked at $X per square meter in 2020, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per square meter), while Bhutan ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bhutan (+20.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
