The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, India (X cubic meters) represented the major exporter of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials, achieving 59% of total exports. Pakistan (X cubic meters) held a 35% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Sri Lanka (5.6%).
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +13.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest fiberboard supplier in Southern Asia, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 26% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fiberboard imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, India (X cubic meters) represented the major importer of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials, constituting 57% of total imports. Afghanistan (X cubic meters) took a 23% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Bangladesh (8%) and Sri Lanka (5.7%). The following importers - Pakistan (X cubic meters) and Nepal (X cubic meters) - together made up 5.6% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to fiberboard imports into India stood at -3.0%. At the same time, Nepal (+13.0%) and Bangladesh (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nepal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +13.0% from 2012-2022. Afghanistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Sri Lanka (-6.6%) and Pakistan (-17.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Afghanistan (+7.6 p.p.), Bangladesh (+4 p.p.) and India (+3.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Sri Lanka (-2.1 p.p.) and Pakistan (-14.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials in Southern Asia, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Afghanistan ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in India amounted to -1.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Afghanistan (-1.2% per year) and Pakistan (-6.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
