In 2022, shipments abroad of first-aid boxes and kits increased by 16% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after four years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, first-aid kit exports stood at $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 43%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

India prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 89% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X tons), mixing up an 8.8% share of total exports. Bangladesh (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to first-aid kit exports from India stood at -22.5%. At the same time, Bangladesh (+9.8%) and Pakistan (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+13.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

First-aid kit imports contracted remarkably to X tons in 2022, reducing by -36% on 2021. In general, imports showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 75%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, first-aid kit imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 111% against the previous year. Afghanistan prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 77% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Bangladesh (X tons), Maldives (X tons), Pakistan (X tons), Nepal (X tons) and Bhutan (X tons) - together made up 18% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to first-aid kit imports into Afghanistan stood at +10.3%. At the same time, Bhutan (+16.3%) and Nepal (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bhutan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +16.3% from 2012-2022. Maldives experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Bangladesh (-8.8%), India (-25.7%) and Pakistan (-27.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan increased by +65, +2.4, +2.3 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
