India dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 98% of total exports in 2022. Sri Lanka (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from India increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Sri Lanka (+15.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Sri Lanka emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012-2022. While the share of India (+21 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest LCDs and plasmas supplier in Southern Asia, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 1.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in India totaled +11.7%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -1.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 193%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while Sri Lanka stood at $X per unit.

Imports in Southern Asia
LCDs and plasmas imports soared to X units in 2022, jumping by 81% against 2021 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, LCDs and plasmas imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 61%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
India dominates imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 87% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X units), creating a 5.7% share of total imports. The following importers - Bangladesh (X units) and Sri Lanka (X units) - together made up 5.7% of total imports.
Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +16.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Pakistan (+21.7%) and Bangladesh (+19.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +21.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Sri Lanka (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+7.6 p.p.) and Pakistan (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Sri Lanka (-8.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma in Southern Asia, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Bangladesh ($X), with a 3.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 1.5% share.
In India, LCDs and plasmas imports expanded at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bangladesh (+35.3% per year) and Pakistan (+18.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
