In value terms, kaolin exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

The shipments of the one major exporters of kaolin and kaolinic clays, namely India, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the kaolin and kaolinic clays exports, with a CAGR of +8.1% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) also remains the largest kaolin supplier in Southern Asia.

Export price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, kaolin export price increased by +62.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 58%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for India.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for India amounted to +2.6% per year.

Imports in Southern Asia
In 2021, approx. X tons of kaolin and kaolinic clays were imported in Southern Asia; growing by 24% compared with 2020. Overall, imports posted a prominent expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, kaolin imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
India (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons) dominates imports structure, together making up 83% of total imports. Pakistan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Sri Lanka (X tons). All these countries together took near 14% share of total imports. Nepal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Nepal (with a CAGR of +15.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported kaolin and kaolinic clays in Southern Asia, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bangladesh ($X), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Pakistan, with a 9.7% share.
In India, kaolin imports increased at an average annual rate of +15.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Bangladesh (+13.2% per year) and Pakistan (+9.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Nepal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
