In value terms, oleic, linoleic or linolenic acids exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 100%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of oleic, linoleic or linolenic acids, their salts and esters. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 8.3% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oleic, linoleic or linolenic acids imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India represented the major importer of oleic, linoleic or linolenic acids, their salts and esters in Southern Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 71% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X tons), making up a 22% share of total imports. Bangladesh (X tons) and Nepal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into India decreased at an average annual rate of -10.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Bangladesh (+10.8%), Nepal (+4.3%) and Pakistan (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +10.8% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Pakistan and Bangladesh increased by +13 and +3.4 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported oleic, linoleic or linolenic acids, their salts and esters in Southern Asia, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Bangladesh, with a 4.1% share.
In India, oleic, linoleic or linolenic acids imports decreased by an average annual rate of -7.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Pakistan (+1.9% per year) and Bangladesh (+13.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 10% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 21%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Nepal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
