The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 33%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The biggest shipments were from India (X tons), together recording 99.9% of total export.

India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the other cyclic hydrocarbons exports, with a CAGR of +6.1% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) also remains the largest cyclic hydrocarbons supplier in Southern Asia.

Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 96%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 67%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Afghanistan (X tons) was the main importer of other cyclic hydrocarbons, constituting 78% of total imports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), comprising a 22% share of total imports.

Afghanistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the other cyclic hydrocarbons imports, with a CAGR of +32.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth.
