India dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 98% of total exports in 2022. Sri Lanka (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the crude palm oil exports, with a CAGR of +200.0% from 2012 to 2022. Sri Lanka (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+98 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Sri Lanka saw its share reduced by -93.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, India ($X) emerged as the largest crude palm oil supplier in Southern Asia, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 0.7% share of total exports.
In India, crude palm oil exports increased at an average annual rate of +202.5% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 82% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Sri Lanka amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+0.8%).

Imports in Southern Asia
In 2022, the amount of crude palm oil imported in Southern Asia reduced to X tons, shrinking by -8.9% against the year before. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, crude palm oil imports totaled $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 69%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

India dominates imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 96% of total imports in 2022. Nepal (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of crude palm oil. At the same time, Nepal (+14.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nepal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +14.8% from 2012-2022. While the share of India (+3.4 p.p.) and Nepal (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported crude palm oil in Southern Asia, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Nepal ($X), with a 2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in India stood at +3.2%.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 10% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Nepal stood at $X per ton.
