Photographic flashbulb exports shrank markedly to X units in 2021, waning by -88.1% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports faced a sharp shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 110%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, photographic flashbulb exports fell markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw a sharp descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 331%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
India dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was near 93% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Pakistan (X units) and Sri Lanka (X units) - together made up 5.7% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to photographic flashbulb exports from India stood at -32.5%. Sri Lanka (-5.5%) and Pakistan (-39.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2021, the export price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per unit, waning by -37.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a remarkable increase. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per unit), while Pakistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+5.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Southern Asia
In 2021, the amount of photographic flashbulbs and flashcubes imported in Southern Asia fell to X units, dropping by -1.6% on 2020 figures. Overall, imports, however, posted a pronounced expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
In value terms, photographic flashbulb imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
India was the main importing country with an import of around X units, which finished at 75% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X units) and Nepal (X units), together generating a 21% share of total imports. The following importers - Sri Lanka (X units) and Afghanistan (X units) - each finished at a 3.9% share of total imports.
Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Pakistan (+38.1%) and Nepal (+10.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +38.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Sri Lanka (-4.1%) and Afghanistan (-14.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Pakistan (+13 p.p.) and Nepal (+3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Sri Lanka (-1.7 p.p.), India (-6.5 p.p.) and Afghanistan (-7.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported photographic flashbulbs and flashcubes in Southern Asia, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 3.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Nepal, with a 1.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in India amounted to -4.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Pakistan (+32.8% per year) and Nepal (+7.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 27% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while Afghanistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
