Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 519% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cows skin exports stood at $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 297% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Bangladesh (X tons) and Afghanistan (X tons) represented roughly 65% of total exports in 2021. Nepal (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by India (X tons). In 2021, purchases abroad of raw hides and skins of bovine animals increased by 20% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cows skin imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt descent. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

India dominates imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 92% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Bangladesh (X tons), generating a 7.5% share of total imports.
