The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

At the same time, Pakistan (+27.7%) and Sri Lanka (+18.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

At the same time, Bangladesh (+21.3%), Maldives (+6.7%), Nepal (+6.4%) and Sri Lanka (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +21.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Pakistan (-1.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Bangladesh (+15 p.p.), Sri Lanka (+5 p.p.), Nepal (+2.8 p.p.) and Pakistan (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while India saw its share reduced by -25.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported rubber tubing not reinforced in Southern Asia, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Bangladesh, with an 11% share.

In India, non-reinforced rubber tubing imports declined by an average annual rate of -4.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Pakistan (+11.4% per year) and Bangladesh (+22.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country
