In 2021, the South Asian copper sanitary ware market decreased by -5.7% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the sanitary ware and parts of copper exports, with a CAGR of -5.0% from 2012 to 2021. Pakistan (-15.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+15 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Pakistan (-14.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest copper sanitary ware supplier in Southern Asia, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Pakistan ($X), with a 7.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in India stood at -3.9%.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Pakistan totaled $X per ton.

The following importers - Sri Lanka (X tons), Afghanistan (X tons) and Nepal (X tons) - together made up 9.6% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to copper sanitary ware imports into India stood at -5.0%. At the same time, Bangladesh (+31.7%) and Sri Lanka (+9.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +31.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Nepal (-1.8%) and Afghanistan (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka increased by +5.8 and +3 percentage points, respectively. From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+7.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
