The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 46%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

India prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 97% of total exports in 2021. Pakistan (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of sanitary ware and parts of iron or steel. Pakistan (-26.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of India increased by +18 percentage points.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest iron or steel sanitary ware supplier in Southern Asia, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 1% share of total exports.

The export price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -48.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Pakistan amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in Southern Asia
Iron or steel sanitary ware imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, increasing by 83% on 2020. Overall, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, iron or steel sanitary ware imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -0.5% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, India (X tons) represented the major importer of sanitary ware and parts of iron or steel, mixing up 51% of total imports. Pakistan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Sri Lanka (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons). All these countries together took near 40% share of total imports. The following importers - Maldives (X tons) and Nepal (X tons) - each resulted at an 8.6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to iron or steel sanitary ware imports into India stood at +9.2%. At the same time, Pakistan (+25.1%), Bangladesh (+22.9%), Maldives (+11.3%), Nepal (+9.3%) and Sri Lanka (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Pakistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +25.1% from 2012-2021. Pakistan (+15 p.p.) and Bangladesh (+4.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Sri Lanka and India saw its share reduced by -5.1% and -5.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sanitary ware and parts of iron or steel in Southern Asia, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Bangladesh, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in India totaled +1.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Sri Lanka (+12.2% per year) and Bangladesh (+37.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per ton, declining by -25.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 12%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Nepal ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
