Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +53.8% from 2012-2021. Afghanistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of India (+15 p.p.), Bangladesh (+7.5 p.p.) and Nepal (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Sri Lanka (-10.8 p.p.) and Afghanistan (-15.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported secateurs and similar one-handed pruners and shears in Southern Asia, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Afghanistan ($X), with an 8.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Bangladesh, with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in India totaled +11.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Afghanistan (+3.7% per year) and Bangladesh (+56.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -3.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 13% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Afghanistan ($X per ton), while Nepal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Afghanistan (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
