The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 70%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India was the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which recorded 66% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Bangladesh (X units) and Pakistan (X units), together mixing up a 31% share of total exports. Sri Lanka (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from India decreased at an average annual rate of -14.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Pakistan (+16.1%), Sri Lanka (+16.1%) and Bangladesh (+5.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 414% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
