Pakistan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 22% share, followed by Bangladesh (11%), Sri Lanka (10%) and Nepal (6.8%). The following importers - Afghanistan (X tons) and Maldives (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.7% share of total imports.

India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of spools, cops and similar supports of plastics. At the same time, Nepal (+9.7%), Maldives (+7.6%), Sri Lanka (+6.3%), Bangladesh (+5.1%) and Pakistan (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nepal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +9.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Afghanistan (-6.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Nepal (+3.4 p.p.), Sri Lanka (+3.2 p.p.), Bangladesh (+2.6 p.p.) and Pakistan (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Afghanistan and India saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -9.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported spools, cops and similar supports of plastics in Southern Asia, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Pakistan ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Bangladesh, with a 10% share.

In India, plastic support imports increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Pakistan (+5.5% per year) and Bangladesh (+6.1% per year).
