Steam Turbine Market Size in Southern Asia

In 2021, after seven years of growth, there was decline in the South Asian steam turbine market, when its value decreased by -1.4% to $X. In general, consumption, however, saw significant growth. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2020, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from India (X units), together reaching 100% of total export.

India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of steam turbines and other vapor turbines. India (+67 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) also remains the largest steam turbine supplier in Southern Asia.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 229%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, steam turbine imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a perceptible increase. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 58% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 150%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($X per unit), while Bangladesh ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
