The shipments of the one major exporters of tableware and kitchenware of wood, namely India, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tableware and kitchenware of wood exports, with a CAGR of +22.7% from 2012 to 2021. While the share of India (+7.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) also remains the largest wood kitchenware and tableware supplier in Southern Asia.

The export price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Imports in Southern Asia
Wood kitchenware and tableware imports soared to X tons in 2021, jumping by 53% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 120% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, wood kitchenware and tableware imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
India prevails in imports structure, recording X tons, which was near 86% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Pakistan (X tons), constituting a 9.8% share of total imports. Nepal (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wood kitchenware and tableware imports into India stood at +35.2%. At the same time, Nepal (+37.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nepal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +37.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Pakistan (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+60 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Pakistan saw its share reduced by -54.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tableware and kitchenware of wood in Southern Asia, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Pakistan ($X), with a 6.9% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in India amounted to +26.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Pakistan (-10.3% per year) and Nepal (+36.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nepal ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nepal (-0.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
