In value terms, uncoated felt paper exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 347% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

India (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) dominates exports structure, together committing 89% of total exports. Sri Lanka (X kg) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Bangladesh (X kg). All these countries together took approx. 11% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Sri Lanka (with a CAGR of +55.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, uncoated felt paper imports in Southern Asia declined markedly to X tons, dropping by -15.5% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 845% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, uncoated felt paper imports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 304%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

Pakistan represented the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 88% of total imports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), achieving an 11% share of total imports.

Pakistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the uncoated felt paper and paperboard imports, with a CAGR of +71.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, India (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Pakistan (+87 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of India (-3.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Pakistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported uncoated felt paper and paperboard in Southern Asia, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 27% share of total imports.

In Pakistan, uncoated felt paper imports expanded at an average annual rate of +38.6% over the period from 2012-2022.

In 2022, the import price in Southern Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 119%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
