The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, vinegar-preserved vegetable exports declined to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
India prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 94% of total exports in 2022. Sri Lanka (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to vinegar-preserved vegetable exports from India stood at -1.9%. Sri Lanka experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Pakistan (-1.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Imports in Southern Asia
In 2022, purchases abroad of vegetables in vinegar other than potatoes increased by 6.3% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports showed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 86%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vinegar-preserved vegetable imports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 75% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Pakistan (X tons) and India (X tons) represented roughly 72% of total imports in 2022. Nepal (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Maldives (X tons) and Bangladesh (X tons). All these countries together took near 23% share of total imports. Sri Lanka (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Pakistan (with a CAGR of +37.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest vinegar-preserved vegetable importing markets in Southern Asia were Pakistan ($X), India ($X) and Nepal ($X), together accounting for 84% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Pakistan, with a CAGR of +32.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Southern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -6.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 9.9%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
