Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

India dominates beverages structure, accounting for X litres, which was near 95% of total exports in 2022. Sri Lanka (X litres) held a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages exports from India stood at +5.8%. At the same time, Sri Lanka (+14.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Sri Lanka emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Southern Asia, with a CAGR of +14.2% from 2012-2022. Sri Lanka (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while India saw its share reduced by -1.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages supplier in Southern Asia, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Sri Lanka ($X), with a 5.2% share of total exports.

Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +105.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade.
