The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Afghanistan represented the key importer of worked slate in Southern Asia, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 77% of total imports in 2022. Bangladesh (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Maldives (X tons). All these countries together held near 19% share of total imports. Pakistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Afghanistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the worked slate imports, with a CAGR of +80.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Maldives (+2.5%) and Bangladesh (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Pakistan (-12.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
