Beeswax Market Size in Spain

For the third year in a row, the Spanish beeswax market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 4.2% to $X in 2022. Overall, the total consumption indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. In value terms, beeswax exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed noticeable growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 115% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of beeswax exports from Spain, with a combined 84% share of total exports. Portugal, Austria, Italy, Romania and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Austria (with a CAGR of +471.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 78%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest beeswax supplier to Spain, with a 58% share of total imports. Moreover, beeswax imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Cameroon (X tons), fourfold.
