From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+37.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Spain
In 2022, purchases abroad of beet-pulp and bagasse decreased by -14.9% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, beet-pulp and bagasse imports reached $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of beet-pulp and bagasse to Spain, with a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, beet-pulp and bagasse imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Egypt (X tons), twofold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia amounted to +4.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (-2.7% per year) and Turkey (0.0% per year).

Among the main suppliers, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +25.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average beet-pulp and bagasse import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 27% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, beet-pulp and bagasse import price increased by +60.0% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 31%.
