In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Spanish brassiere market, when its value increased by 24% to $X. In general, consumption recorded a slight increase. Brassiere consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, brassiere production rose notably to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a mild decrease. From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +19.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for brassiere exported from Spain were Portugal ($X), France ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 59% share of total exports. Germany, Poland, Greece, the UK, Turkey, Belgium, Tunisia, San Marino and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +19.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average brassiere export price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 83% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to San Marino ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X units of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated were imported into Spain; jumping by 25% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, brassiere imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest brassiere supplier to Spain, accounting for a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, brassiere imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Bangladesh (X units), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X units), with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to -4.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bangladesh (+21.5% per year) and Italy (+6.8% per year).

These countries were followed by France, Belgium, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Tunisia, Germany, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Cambodia and Ireland, which together accounted for a further 28%.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +28.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average brassiere import price amounted to $X per unit, falling by -4.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while the price for Ireland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
