The United States (X tons) was the main destination for precious stone and pearl exports from Spain, with a 44% share of total exports. Moreover, precious stone and pearl exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Qatar (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Greece (X tons), with a 7.3% share.

Precious stone and pearl imports into Spain contracted slightly to X tons in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 46%. Moreover, precious stone and pearl imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), twofold. Hong Kong SAR (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Brazil stood at +2.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-0.4% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (+2.3% per year).
In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones to Spain, comprising 16% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 2.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 2.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from India stood at +8.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-2.9% per year) and Brazil (+16.2% per year).
