Overall, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 681%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, currant and gooseberry imports contracted to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 152% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) were the main suppliers of currant and gooseberry imports to Spain, with a combined 76% share of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Italy, Denmark, Austria and Ecuador, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Italy (with a CAGR of +69.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
