In general, total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine-year period. Poland (X tons), France (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main destinations of glass fibre filament exports from Spain, together comprising 35% of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Switzerland, Brazil, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 50%.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -13.7% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre filament imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
