Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

The Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports to Spain, together accounting for 47% of total imports. The United States, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France, Poland, Argentina, the UK, Sweden and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +78.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 20% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for the United States ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
