In value terms, camel and other animal meat exports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of camel and other animal meat exports from Spain, with a combined 67% share of total exports. Belgium, Portugal, the United States, the Netherlands, Austria and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 23%.

In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -23.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. In value terms, camel and other animal meat imports reduced slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -2.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, France (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of camel and other animal meat to Spain, with a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, camel and other animal meat imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Poland (X tons), with an 8.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France amounted to +1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+14.9% per year) and Poland (+37.4% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of meat of camels and other animals to Spain, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from France stood at +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+16.5% per year) and Poland (+59.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average import price for meat of camels and other animals amounted to $X per ton, surging by 11% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, camel and other animal meat import price increased by +12.3% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 43%.
