The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +4.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest papaya supplier to Spain, accounting for a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, papaya imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Panama (X tons), sevenfold.
