France (X tons) was the main destination for sauce and seasoning exports from Spain, accounting for a 32% share of total exports. Moreover, sauce and seasoning exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tons), twofold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.7% share.

These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Morocco, Sweden, Cuba, Poland and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 28%.
Morocco, with a CAGR of +29.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, approx. X tons of sauces and seasonings were imported into Spain; surging by 6.1% against 2020 figures. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -3.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of sauce and seasoning imports to Spain, together accounting for 52% of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Poland, Belgium, the UK, Portugal, China, Turkey and the United States, which together accounted for a further 37%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +19.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the largest sauce and seasoning suppliers to Spain, together accounting for 50% of total imports.
