Rice Bran Market Size in Spain

After three years of growth, the Spanish rice bran market decreased by -1.4% to $X in 2021. For the fourth year in a row, Spain recorded growth in purchases abroad of rice bran, which increased by 35% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 52%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, rice bran imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Portugal (X tons), Italy (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of rice bran imports to Spain, with a combined 98% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +42.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
