The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Algeria (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main destinations of sack kraft paper exports from Spain, together accounting for 30% of total exports. Germany, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, France, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Mexico, Costa Rica, the UK and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 50%.

Over the period under review, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 74%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sack kraft paper imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a remarkable increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, the Czech Republic (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sack kraft paper to Spain, accounting for a 43% share of total imports. Moreover, sack kraft paper imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Austria (X tons), with a 12% share.
