In value terms, telecommunications instrument exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +25.4% against 2019 indices. Finland (X units), the UK (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of telecommunications instrument exports from Spain, together accounting for 53% of total exports. The United States, Cuba, Sweden, Italy, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Morocco and Portugal lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Canada (with a CAGR of +44.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Finland ($X) and the UK ($X) were the largest markets for telecommunications instrument exported from Spain worldwide, together accounting for 53% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Cuba, Canada, Brazil, Portugal and Morocco, which together accounted for a further 26%.
Canada, with a CAGR of +43.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average telecommunications instrument export price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 4.8% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, telecommunications instrument export price increased by +71.3% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous year. Imports into Spain
In 2021, supplies from abroad of telecommunications instruments decreased by -18.7% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 261%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, telecommunications instrument imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of telecommunications instrument to Spain, with a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, telecommunications instrument imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X units), more than tenfold. Germany (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +33.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+18.5% per year) and Germany (-8.3% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of telecommunications instruments to Spain, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +35.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+4.1% per year) and the United States (-5.6% per year).

The average telecommunications instrument import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 28% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 33%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
