Titanium Market Size in Spain

The Spanish titanium market dropped slightly to $X in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the market value increased by 9.6% against the previous year. In general, exports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 246% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, titanium exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 194%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

France (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of titanium exports from Spain, with a combined 71% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +115.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X), Brazil ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for titanium exported from Spain worldwide, together accounting for 68% of total exports.

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of titanium sponge, powders, ingots and slabs increased by 21% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, titanium imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

China (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main suppliers of titanium imports to Spain, together comprising 73% of total imports. France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Italy, the UK and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +17,789.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), Russia ($X) and Japan ($X) were the largest titanium suppliers to Spain, together accounting for 64% of total imports. Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

In 2022, the average titanium import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 11% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, titanium import price decreased by -30.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 43%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
